Know File Extensions

May 21, 2008

Applications are growing, so are the file extensions. Probably everyday there is a new file extension created… take these file extensions for example:

.GRD – Photoshop Gradient File
.DML – Data Manipulation Language File
.SKP – Google SketchUp Model

Well, how many of you know that these extensions exist? I guess not many.
So, how to keep track on them? Well, it’s quite simple. Visit
dotwhat.net

Dotwhat has a huge database of file extension information, mainly (but not exclusive to) the Microsoft Windows (Including Windows Vista!), Apple Macintosh and Linux operating systems.

So the next time you are stuck with that unknown file, you know what to do :D
